CWORPH Study of Workforce Recruitment and Retention
Valerie Yeager (Indiana University) and Beth Resnick (Johns Hopkins University), as members of CWORPH (the Consortium for Workforce Research in Public Health), are recruiting participants for a qualitative study called “Exploring Evolving Workforce Staffing Models.” The purpose of this work is to understand health department experiences with the changing federal and state funding environments and policy changes in the context of workforce retention and recruitment. They are hoping to identify lessons that might be meaningful to other health departments. They would like to interview HD leaders involved in recruitment and retention, which may be different individuals depending on the size of the organization. Anyone interested in participating can reach them directly by email at vyeager@iu.edu and bresnick@jhu.edu. These will be virtual, Zoom interviews that should last approximately 1 hour. Lessons from this work will be presented in aggregate. No state, agency, or personal identifiers will be shared. Interviews will be conducted starting April 20 through the end of May 2026.
Participants Needed: Help Shape How Local Health Departments Support Caregivers
NACCHO, in partnership with the National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) and with support from The John A. Hartford Foundation, is a hosting virtual listening session on Thursday, May 14 at 3 PM ET to learn how local health departments (LHDs) are supporting family caregivers of older adults and people with disabilities in their communities. We’re seeking LHD staff to share insights on current programming, alignment with the National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers, challenges, and resource needs related to supporting caregivers, older adults, and people with disabilities. Feedback will directly inform future tools, resources, and capacity-building efforts for local health departments.
Interested in participating? Complete the Listening Session Interest Form. Participation is by invitation to ensure diverse representation.
